posted Mar 26, 2009, 7:16 AM by lesplin@tech.washk12.org

To pre-register a student for the upcoming school year:

  1. Log into the appropriate school.
  2. Navigate to Start Page > School > Years & Terms and verify that the Years & Terms for the upcoming school year have been created.
  3. If a 2010-2011 school year is not listed click on New and create a new year using the dates from the 2010-2011 year shown in the image below.
  4. Use the District Search tool at the bottom of the Main PowerSchool Screen to see if the student you wish to enroll is already somewhere in the district. Even kindergarten students should be checked carefully. Only type the first few letters of the first and last name and then search (see images below). If the student exists contact the their school of residence and ask them to change the next school indicator to your school.

  5. If the student is not in the district navigate to Start Page > Special Functions > Enroll New Student.
  6. Populate the fields. For enrollment date, enter the first day of next year's school year. Also, verify that the grade level and school correct for the next year.

  7. Submit the page.
  8. After the student is pre enrolled go to Scheduling Setup, near the bottom of the student menuand enter the required fields: next year grade, schedule this student, next school indicator etc.

  9. To find Pre-Enrolled students you must  search using a slash '/'.

  10. Pre-Enrolled students will display the school initials and Pre-Registered at the top of the screen right of the student's name and number.

Correctly pre-registering students will create a student record with an enroll status of -1 (Pre-Registered). It also creates a pending enrollment that will become active during nightly process at 12 am on the date entered on the "Enroll New Student" page.

Incorrect pre-registering can cause enrollment summary issues. Students that are incorrectly pre-registered may receive and enroll status of 0 (Active) and will be promoted during End-of-Year (EOY) process. They will also receive a dual enrollment and re-enrollment record resulting in duplicate numbers on the enrollment summary rep
